Recently I have reflected a lot on the most important things in life as I try to continue to build my business and raise my family. It always seems like a balance. This has probably been reflected in many of my recent posts.
Sometimes as leaders we get so caught up in the day to day business that we overlook the most important things. And those “things” are the people in our lives.
On one of my coaching calls the other day I was talking to a successful executive that was struggling in reaching his goal of recognizing and appreciating his staff more. As we discussed why he was failing to do this he began to talk about all of the fires he puts out every day and that he just wasn’t making it a priority. It became evident to him as we continued to talk that his staff were really the important things and that sometimes the fires could wait.
How many times do each of us get caught up in thinking that the non-important things are important?
“Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved.”
Thomas S. Monson
Recently I was touched by a video I would like to share. This inspirational video was put out by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who continues to put out videos that impress me. But it isn’t a religious message; it’s really a life message. Please enjoy.

Mike, This video is a poignant and touchingly effective way to drive home a simple truth, which, becuase it is so simple, is often overlooked. I wonder how long we can function at a frentic, warped speed, with endless deadlines without in some way impacting our relationships with those we truly care about. Videos like this have the wonderful ability to pull us out of our speed addiction or vortex which we are sucked into daily, and yank us back into a more spiritual place. Thank you for sharing this video as viewing it gave me an opportunity to get back to what really matters...sharing time with a loved one!

You are welcome Joyce! I am glad you liked it. You asked the question how long can we function at this speed without impacting those we care about? My answer is we can't. Everytime we ignore those we care about we pay a price at some point. As the saying goes, no one ever regretted on their death bed that they made more money. or achieved more status The things they always regret have to do with relationships. Thanks for commenting : )
