Mike,
I agree that we have let technology run our lives. I made a commitment to take my phone off my hip when I get home from work. I will look at it just before going to bed, but I find it easier to be aware of what is going on at home if I don't have my phone on me. I also stopped taking the phone to Church, as I couldn't think of an emergency situation that required that I be available every single minute of the day.

Good stuff Brent. Thanks for your comments. That is a good way to look at it. Most of us can put our phones away for distraction free time with our spouses, children, church etc... Great point!

Wow, guilty as charged! I am going to be much more aware of when and how often I refer to my Blackberry as well! Thank you for bringing this topic to our attention

THANK YOU, there is nothing more insulting to an employee at a staff meeting than having the boss constantly BB while comments, questions, presentations and ideas are being presented. It is demoralizing.

Mono

Very nice post, Mike! it's true... nothing is worst than talking to someone who is looking his bb screen all time.
Once i left the restaurante where we were without saying goodbye.

Thanks for the comments Ginger, Whiteswan and Mono. I agree Whiteswan and Mono. This post was inspired a number of experiences I have had with that and how it made me feel.
