The mistake that leaders often make is to set goals once a year and then follow up for the first time the following year. The best leaders understand that goals change and need to be worked and revisited frequently. They also understand that if goals are not re-visited and followed up on, then followers will be less likely to care as well. The result is a leader providing feedback that lacks the impact it would have had ten, six or three months ago.
