How to React When Someone Is Unkind – Technique and Powerful Video

being more kind, unkindness, bully, technique for reacting to someone who is mean

How you handle adversity as a leader says a lot about you as a leader. And, there are ways to handle it appropriately and there are ways not to.

I found the following video on bullying. It is done by a man named Brooks Gibbs. He has a really good technique for stopping bullies. He says that bullying has nothing to do with being short, tall, fat, skinny, wearing glasses or anything else like that, it has to do with how people being bullied react.

This has lots of applications whether you are a leader, teammate or working with cross functional teams. How you react to any given situation when faced with conflict or adversity will determine how you are treated in return.

It’s the law of reciprocity. If I am mean to you, there is a good chance that you will be mean to me. If I am kind to you, there is a good chance that you will be kind to me.

Next time you find yourself in a situation where someone is talking down to you, making snide and personal remarks, or just being mean in general—think about this video. Instead of reacting with anger; react with kindness.

Be kind to unkind people. It is powerful stuff!
