I had the opportunity over the weekend to learn some valuable and important lessons about how important leader support is from my 12 year old son. Youth in my church are often asked to prepare a 3-5 minute talk to deliver to our congregation of about 300 on any given Sunday. Through the years I have appreciated this opportunity for my children because of the challenge involved, the opportunity to immerse themselves in an assigned topic and a chance to improve their public speaking skills.
Leadership Stories Series

Years ago I heard the following story. A father was reading the newspaper one evening when his young son asked him if he could play a game. The father who didn’t want to be bothered took a page of the newspaper with a map of the world on it and tore it up in pieces. He told his young son, “take these pieces of the paper and put it back together. When you are done, come back, and then I will play with you.”

Every once in a while you hear a leadership story that touches you to the core. I produced the following leadership story because I found it so powerful in what it taught. Great leaders care. Should they care enough to risk their life for the enemy? Sergeant Richard Kirkland did. What do you think?

I heard it once said that a good example has twice the value of good advice. I came across a powerful leadership story that I would like to share and that highlights what leading by example is all about.
