Come sit at my table! Invitation Idea for All Leaders

Table Invitations

Erika, my wife, got an email from a close friend yesterday sharing the following message:

Subject: Come sit at my table….

There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.

Quote: “Today may there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us. (Nancy Compton)” “

WOW!  Is that not cool? What an excellent way for each of us to ponder those who are closest to us and act as our “lift” so our wings can spread and fly. I observed my wife Erika as she shared this with me. Her spirits obviously were soaring high in the heavens. She had someone who cared enough to tell her and to include her in their inner circle. She had made a difference in someone’s life. What an honor! What a gift!

My mind went back to junior and senior high when I went through the lunch line each day. The most challenging part was after  receiving my food and getting the ticket punched for payment…”Where would I sit”? Nothing was more refreshing when a friend would holler or wave at me and say, “Come sit at my table”! You knew you were wanted, a part of something bigger than yourself, that friendship was more than nice words.

I’ve been a collector of ways to celebrate the success of others, expressing appreciation to others, and quieting one’s soul for thought and focus on what is important for some time. I think you’ll agree this hits a “Grand Slam”!  Give it a try! Invite someone to “Come sit at my table”!

Please share the reaction(s) you receive when you invite someone to your table. Sometimes the best tools we can use are the most simple!
