Oops – Leaders Make Mistakes

Important newsflash: leaders make mistakes! Okay, maybe not news to you, and certainly not news to me either. But how many actually admit they make mistakes? My experience has shown that some leaders admit it; some don’t. When leaders make mistakes they have everything to gain by admitting it.

Teamwork Story – Fable of the Porcupine Family

I have never known a perfect team that consisted of perfect people. Perfect teams are diverse teams and each comes with people who are weak in some areas and strong in others. I love the following story that illustrates the need to work with less than perfect people, overcome our difference and eventually become the perfect team.

It is important to be on time or you are wasting time

Some people pride themselves on being on time. For others being on time is only something they think about when they are late. Here is a fun leadership story that you can share with your teams about the importance of being on time and the consequences if you aren’t. I am not sure if it is based on a true story or not (I hope not), but it is pretty funny.

Leader support

I had the opportunity over the weekend to learn some valuable and important lessons about how important leader support is from my 12 year old son. Youth in my church are often asked to prepare a 3-5 minute talk to deliver to our congregation of about 300 on any given Sunday. Through the years I have appreciated this opportunity for my children because of the challenge involved, the opportunity to immerse themselves in an assigned topic and a chance to improve their public speaking skills.

Excellent ice breaker activity

I love “feel good” types of ice breaker activities. Here is a wonderful ice breaker activity for new teams and/or small or large training classes. Use this ice breaker activity to start your meeting or training. Once participants know each other better end it with another one of my other favorite ice breaker/team builder activities – “Say Something Positive!”
