Recently I have reflected a lot on the most important things in life as I try to continue to build my business and raise my family. It always seems like a balance. This has probably been reflected in many of my recent posts.
Sometimes as leaders we get so caught up in the day to day business that we overlook the most important things. And those “things” are the people in our lives.
On one of my coaching calls the other day I was talking to a successful executive that was struggling in reaching his goal of recognizing and appreciating his staff more. As we discussed why he was failing to do this he began to talk about all of the fires he puts out every day and that he just wasn’t making it a priority. It became evident to him as we continued to talk that his staff were really the important things and that sometimes the fires could wait.
How many times do each of us get caught up in thinking that the non-important things are important?
