Touching and Inspiring Story of Leadership
Once in a while I have the blessing of coming across something that really touches me deeply. The video I am sharing is one of those blessings. It is an absolutely inspiring story of leadership.
Nicholas Winton (a British humanitarian) organized the rescue and passage of 669 children from Czechoslovakia to Britain. Most were Jewish
Czechoslovakian children destined for the Nazi death camps before World War II.
Winton kept fairly quiet around his great humanitarian efforts until 1988 when his wife Grete discovered a detailed scrapbook in the attic. The scrapbook contained a list of the children he saved, their parents names and addresses of the families that took them in.
The world found out about Winton’s great work in 1988 during a BBC television program titled “That’s Life!” The clip below is from that show. He gets a tearful surprise as everyone in the audience, over two dozen, are one of those children he saved.
I was very touched by this great leader and his selfless example. Great leaders care. They care so much that they act in extraordinary ways in blessing the lives of those they lead.
Sir Nicholas Winton (knighted in 2002) is an inspiring example of leadership. His story leaves me immensely grateful for good men and women all over the world that care enough to act. Thank you Sir Nicholas Winton.
