Bad Training – Sleeping

There are two big problems that I see with most leadership training (not the type I do of course – wink). 1. Too much of what I call Spray and Pray. Too much talking and hoping that trainees will retain what they learned. Not enough interaction and application. 2. No accountability to applying what is learned after the training. People must be held accountable for applying what they learn to their jobs. No accountability equals little chance much will be applied.

Leadership by example

What we do is more important than what we say as leaders – and as Ganhdi demonstrated. Whether we do wrong, or whether we do right it is noticed. This video demonstrates the power of how our parenting by example can adversily affect our children.

My Top Leadership Video 2010

As we end the year I thought it would be appropriate to post my top five leadership videos for 2010. Each of these has inspired me in some way to become not only a better leader, but a better person.

Anyone can be a leader – Great Video

The thought that comes to me as I watched the powerful video below is that leadership is sometimes a one on one thing that has the potential to affect literally thousands of people, maybe even millions. Anyone can be a leader. I was deeply touched by the leadership a young man by the name of Charles Steadman demonstrated and an entire student body embraced when a young woman by the name of Savannah, who was born with Cerebral Palsy, was voted Homecoming/Inaugural Queen.

Great Leaders Nurture

Sometimes people just need someone to listen to them. Other times they just need a little understanding and a sensitive act of service. I love this video and wanted to share it. I believe it can transform the way you look at things as a leader. It has already had a large impact on my thinking.
